He was predeceased by: his parents, Joseph B. Barnes and Dollie Mae Wilson Barnes; and his brothers, William "Billy" Barnes and Joseph McDowell Barnes. He is survived by: his wife Joyce Kilpatrick; his son Ricky Barnes (Sherri) of Russell Springs; and his grandchildren, Joseph Trevor Barnes (Kirsten Haste), Nicholas Wayne Barnes (Chandra) and Kaitlyn McQueary (Dylan).
