It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Donald Nichols of Russell, Kentucky, born in Ashland, Kentucky, who passed away on August 23, 2022, at the age of 87, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his parents, John Nichols and Vada McPeek Nichols; and his former wife Susan Bates Nichols (Susie). He is survived by: his wife Phyllis A. Nichols of Russell, KY; his sons, Jeff Nichols (Kathryn) of Fallbrook, CA, Donald Nichols Jr. (Jill) of Cleveland, TN, John Michael Nichols of Lexington, KY and Mark Nichols (Deeanne) of Louisville, KY.; his grandchildren, Emily Monsma (Greg) of Louisville, KY, Chase Nichols (Katie) of Lexington, KY, Corey Nichols (Mary) of Frankfort, KY, Steven Nichols of Pleasant View, TN, Ben Nichols (Nicole) of Palm Harbor, FL, Matt Maher of Atlanta, GA and Brian Nichols of Cleveland, TN.; his great grandchildren, Hudson, Jessamine Monsma, Emerson Nichols, Isabell Burkybile, Kendall Nichols, Asher and Silas Nichols; and his friend Don. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations be made in Don's memory to the American Cancer Society.
