He was predeceased by: his parents, Daniel Sams and Ella Sue Brown; his wife Frances Sams; his son Bobby Sams; and his siblings, George R., Jessie S., Jake, Lonnie, Irvin Sams, Luree Bryant and Mary Ella Richardson.
He is survived by: his granddaughter April Sams Isaacs of Rowletts, KY; his great grandchildren, Taylor and Krislyn Isaacs; his stepchildren, Virgil Waddell of Clinton, TN, Jerry Waddell (Donna) of Louisville, KY and Faye Pritchard (Kenny) of Horse Cave, KY; his stepgranddaughter Amanda Bailey (Troy) of Horse Cave, KY; his stepgreat-granddaughter KayLa Adams; and his brother Charles Sams (Carolyn) of Cave City, KY. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
