He was predeceased by: his parents, James L. Barnes and Margaret Singleton Barnes. He is survived by: his wife Linda Barnes of Rockport; his daughters, Michele Grant (Jonathan) of Mayfield and Angel Himes (Danny Burrell) of Rockport; his grandchildren, Brittini Farris (Tyler), Hunter Grant (Abby), Trevor Grant (Maggie), Jakob Himes (Jessica Bruner) and Mason Grant; his great grandchildren, Neely Grant, Beau Grant, Avery Farris and Tanner Farris; and his brothers, Barry Barnes (Alta) of Rockport, Roger Barnes (Sue Richardson) of Greenville, Leroy Barnes (Gloria) of Rockport and Tim Barnes (Nancy) of Owensboro. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews and cousins.
