It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of Opal Sexton Holbrooks of Rockhouse, Kentucky, born in Hellier, Kentucky, who passed away on August 28, 2021, at the age of 96, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her parents, Malcolm Sexton and Mary Bartley Sexton; her husband Walter Ray Holbrooks; and her children, James, Jerry and Susan.

She is survived by: her sons, Ronnie Holbrooks of Pikeville, KY, Eddie Holbrooks (Deidra) of Sevierville, TN., Malcolm Holbrooks (Debbie Jo) of Lookout, KY, Julian Holbrooks of Rockhouse, KY, Grover C. Holbrooks of Lookout, KY and John Holbrooks of Rockhouse, KY. She is also survived by many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.

“I just heard yesterday (9/1/21) of Aunt Opal's passing. My condolences to all who were close to her. I was only able to see her at three times in my life (1965, 1970, and 2008) but was impressed each time by her generosity, wit and intelligence. I know that as the oldest girl in the family, she spent a lot of time looking after my father when he was little and I know he loved her dearly.
