He was predeceased by: his parents, Benjamin Burnice Vertrees and Eula Pawley Vertrees; and his siblings, George Wayne, Eugene Lamar, Shelby Forest, James Ralph Vertrees, Bernice Vertrees Boothe and Verla Sue Vertrees.
He is survived by: his wife Sue Carol Hatfield Vertrees; his daughters, Sherry Denise Irwin and Deanna Lynn Richardson (Ricky); his stepgranddaughters, Kristen Richardson and Malari Richardson; his stepgreat-grandchildren, Blaire Evans and Liam Short; his sister Betty Alvey Muse; and his sister-in-law LaVerne Vertrees. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Mask wearing and social distancing will be observed.
