She was predeceased by: her parents, John T. Sowders and Bertha Ellen Blankenship Sowders; her husband William R. "Dick" Kearney; and her brother John T. Sowders Jr. of Richmond. She is survived by: her daughter Alice Welsh (Dan) of Owensboro; her sister Barbara Sowders of Richmond; her nephews, David (Fran) and Paul Sowders (Lynn Dee); and her caregivers, Jennifer Hall and Lisa Perkins of Richmond.
