It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Tony Byrd of Richmond, Kentucky, born in Berea, Kentucky, who passed away on January 26, 2024, at the age of 71, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

He was predeceased by: his parents, Wallace Byrd and Margaret Cochran Byrd; his son Brian Byrd; his grandparents, John, Alice Cochran, Hugh and Cora Byrd; his siblings, Jimmy, Betty, Wallace Jay Byrd and Bobby Eden; his father-in-law Hubert Gibbs; and his brothers-in-law, Jerry Gibbs, Stephen Gibbs and Herbert Owens.

He is survived by: his wife Sue Gibbs Byrd; his daughter Melissa Byrd Griffith (Josh); his mother-in-law Eula Richardson Johnson (Billy); his grandchildren, Marriah Eaton (Mariah), Tanner Eaton (Stacy), Trenton Byrd (Lauralee), Carson Stanifer, Seth Eaton (Shelby), Courtney Harries (Austin), Keira Griffith, Brinklee, Raelee, Huxley, Millie, Stetson and Fowyer; his siblings, Lois Byrd Owens, Jerry Byrd (Vicky), Sam Owens (Kathy), Haylee Graham (Austyn), David, Anna, Christen Coleman, Mildred Eden and Marie Byrd Dorthy Gibbs; and also, Billy, Kay Emmitt and Glenna Smith. He is also survived by nieces, nephews.

He attended Kingston Elementary and Berea Foundation, excelling in basketball and baseball.
