He was predeceased by: his parents, Taylor Prather and Ruby Bowlin Prather. He is survived by: his wife Mary Chamberlain Prather; his children, Patrick O'Neal Prather of Richmond, KY and June Barker (Robert) of Tallahassee, FL; his stepsister Alene Kerns; and his great grandchildren, Taylor O'Neal Prather (Lisa), Jennifer LeAnn Prather and Don Paul Cowart (Jennifer).
