He was predeceased by: his parents, James Woody and Lottie Snyder Woody; and his brothers, Larry Woody, Gary Woody and John Woody.

He is survived by: his wife Sandra Edington Woody; his children, Dr. James "Jim" Woody II (Amanda) of Burnside, Jamie Valentin of Indianapolis and Kelly Dixon of Richmond; his sister Lisa VanAllen; and his grandchildren, Ashton, Trevor, Peyton, Gavin, Paisley, Trey, Grace, Amelia and Kaden. He is also survived by his nieces and nephews.
