He was predeceased by: his parents, Charlie Ely and Ruth Turner Abney; his son Billy Ray Adams Jr.; his brother-in-law Jerry Jones; and his granddaughter Sarah Ellen Abney.
He is survived by: his wife Ruby Adams Abney; his children, Lynne Abney Spillman and Steve Abney; his grandchildren, Zach Short (Sheri), Mackenzie Short, Alexandra Short, Benjamin Short (Sara Kay), Isabelle Richardson (Dawson) and Morgan Harrison (Chase); his great grandchildren, Charlie Richardson and Mallorie Harrison; and his sisters, Gwen Jones and Jenny Pendleton (Lee). He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
