He was predeceased by: his parents, William Winkle and Carmen Rader Van Winkle; his son John David Van Winkle; and his siblings, William, Ormand Van Winkle and Iona Million.
He is survived by: his daughters, Dawn Michelle Van Winkle of Berea and Shawn Rene Meadows of Richmond; his siblings, Donald Van Winkle, Robert Van Winkle (Linda), Georgia Lunsford, Betty Lou Alexander (Earl) and Carmen Marshall (Ricky); and his grandchildren, Sophia Sanchez (Hector), Samuel Shearer (Brooklyn), Brittany Tingle, Brendan Kirby and Preston Van Winkle. He is also survived by five great grandchildren and several very special nieces and nephews.
