He was predeceased by: his parents, James Floyd Mitchell, Sr. and Mary Alice Lisle Mitchell; and his siblings, Thomas Gassett, Ronald Lee Mitchell, James Floyd Mitchell, Jr. and Mary Thomas Mitchell.
He is survived by: his wife Emma Louise "Peach" Smith Mitchell; his children, Calvin Derrick Mitchell (Jamie Stewart) of Richmond, Minister Anthony Laquez Mitchell (Trista) of Paint Lick, Teresa Ann Martin (Kevin) of Richmond and Tanya Denise Wilson of Richmond; his sisters, Ida Elizabeth Lisle, Molly Ann Mitchell, Jeroline Brown and Sadalia Mitchell; his grandchildren, Lashaun Mitchell, Arayah Mitchell, Channing Stewart, Tyra Smith, Ethan Smith, Braela Wilson and O'Shea Wilson; and his siblings-in-law, Sandra Faye Smith and Paul Smith. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
