He was predeceased by: his parents, Alonzo Nelson and Doris Nelson; his uncle Stafford Nelson; and his cousin Clay Nelson. He is survived by: his children, Ryan Nelson Smith (Andy) and Michael Barry Nelson (Jamie); the mother of his children Cathy Eades Johnson; his grandchildren, Tatum Paige Nelson, Elizabeth Clay "Ellie" Nelson and Ann Bailey Smith; his sister Tina Cain (Jesse); his friend Dave McCord; and his close friends, John Collins and Jeff May. He is also survived by his three nephews.
