He was predeceased by: his father Otto Allen; his son Tim Chaney; and his brothers, John and Ed Chaney. He is survived by: his wife Juanita; his son David Chaney (Lori); and his sisters, Ann Branson (John) and Stella Knight (Jim). He is also survived by three grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild.
