He was predeceased by: his parents, Mary Tolliver Madden and George W. Madden; his stepfather Renzey Combs; and his siblings, George, Lee, Bill, Don and Neva.

He is survived by: his sisters, Betty Hodgkiss (Lee) and Grace Ison (Ralph); his niece Sandy Bentley (Alger); and his daughters, Deavin and Morgan Host of Family.
