He was predeceased by: his parents, Otto Borchert and Nellie Williams Borchert; and his siblings, Ronnie Borchert, Adah Monhead and Rita Probst.

He is survived by: his wife Peggy Borchert; his children, Tina Lightfoot (Danny), Penny Begley (Darrel) and Robert Borchert II; his grandchildren, Timothy Redden, Katy Byars, Kristina Williams and Matthew Lightfoot; and his siblings, Otto Borchert (Sue), David Borchert, Shirley Russell, Rebecca Thompson (John), Marilyn Charlier (Ray) and Helen Nokjechek. He is also survived by five great grandchildren.
