He was predeceased by: his parents, Walter Bernard and Jean Bernice Rusanowski Schaefer; his daughter Chantell Schaefer; and his sisters, Mary Ann Schaefer, Louise Schaefer and Helen Schaefer.
He is survived by: his wife Deborah Johnston Schaefer; his children, Rachel Schaefer of Princeton, Bridget Schaefer of Marion, Gretchen Neumann, Alex William Schaefer, Rebecca of Nabb, IN., Adam Schaefer, Jessica of Paducah, Caleb A. Schaefer and Mindy of Olympia, WA.; and his siblings, Karen Schaefer of Jackson, MO., Theresa Ho of Plainfield, IL., Don Schaefer of Cape Girardeau, MO., Joe Schaefer of St. Peters, MO., Ken Schaefer of Cape Girardeau, MO., Jim Schaefer of Barnhart, MO. and Eddie Schaefer of Perryville, MO.. He is also survived by grandchildren, one great grandchild; several nieces and nephews.
