He was predeceased by: his parents, Woodrow Smith and Thelma Logan Smith; and his siblings, Wanda Stanley, Janet Corl, Joann Smith, David Smith and Charles Smith.
He is survived by: his wife Mary Reed Smith of Princeton; his children, Victoria Markham of Princeton, Mark L. Smith (Sherri) of Washington, IL and Richard E. Smith (Barbara) of Paris, TN; and his grandchildren, Brian Markham (Kara), Matt Markham (Andrea), Kenny Smith, Michelle Taylor (Chad), Michael Markham (Abby Thompson) and Lynnette Smith. He is also survived by 20 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren.
