He is survived by: his wife Deborah Dreihaupt Merrick; his stepchildren, Shelly Evans (Tony) of Princeton and Bobby Jones (Audrey) of Clarksville; his sister Peggy Warfield (James); his grandchildren, Jayden Taylor, Bettlyn Evans, Maddie Jones, Molly Jones and Charlie Jones; his nephew Brian Ruffin; his niece Marty Jo McCarty; and his great-nephew Ethan McCarty.
