He was predeceased by: his parents, Kenneth Gibbs and Vivian Gibbs; and his siblings, Kenneth W. Gibbs, Peggy Stewart and Lillian Drye.

He is survived by: his close friend Janet Rexroat; his children, Herb Gibbs IV, Alexis Odle (Samuel) and Mia Beaton (Christian); and his sisters, Frances Truitt, Ernestine "Tina" Duncan and Erica Johnson. He is also survived by seven grandchildren.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date due to covid with interment Louisville Cemetery.

“I would like to say goodbye old friend. Herb and I went to Male High School at the same time, actually band mates. We both went to the military and later crossed paths in our music involvement. A class reunion gathering was my hope for us young fellows at heart. C-19 virus has changed that aspect. My sorrow and prayers are with the family. Please! Get vaccinated. William (aka) Buddy Fox”
