He was predeceased by: his parents, Henry Carter and Myrtle Metcalf Carter; and his siblings, Juanita, Geraldine and Mike.
He is survived by: his wife Gail Carter of Pleasureville; his children, Diana Wilder of Jeffersonville, IN and James Edward Carter II (Cassandra) of Colorado Springs, CO; his sister Carol Walters (Wayne) of Tampa, FL; and his grandsons, Kevin Bender, James Edward "Trai" Carter III and Tyler Jose Carter. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
