He was predeceased by: his parents, William H. McGowan and Amy Linville Thomas McGowan; his wife Christine McGowan; and his siblings, Paul McGowan, Lowell McGowan, Eileen Stivers and Doris Lynn McGowan.
He is survived by: his daughter Dina G. McAlister of Eminence; his grandson Cody Alexander McGowan (Mary) of Richmond; his sister Marilyn Sewell of New Castle; his niece Kathy Sewell (Rick) of Versailles; his nephews, Wayne Stivers (Debbie) of Jeffersontown, Kim McGowan (Sue) of Shelbyville and Gary McGowan (Edith) of Shelbyville; and his close friend Margaret Cook.
