He was predeceased by: his parents, Joseph E. Sr. Carpenter and Josephine Novak Carpenter. He is survived by: his wife Corlin Hollister Carpenter; his son Joseph E. Carpenter, III; his grandchildren, Madelyn Carpenter, Abigail Carpenter, James Joseph Arno and Reese Arno; his sister Barbara Ferguson; his sister-in-law Theda (Carl Wolfe); and his nieces and nephews, Roland Giroux, Lorraine Beamer, Holly Wolfe, Lena Wolfe and Ned Wolfe. He is also survived by other relatives and friends.
