He was predeceased by: his parents, John Sr. Deaton and Euphemia Cox Deaton; his son Ronald Deaton; and his siblings, John Deaton, Jr., Eulene Johnson and Ada Smith.
He is survived by: his daughters, Devona Deaton and Euphemia Ann Deaton Hamilton; his grandchildren, Ashley Deaton, Jeremy Deaton, Ronald Deaton, Jr., Bridgett Deaton, Brittany Deaton, Cody Deaton, Daniel Parker, Tamara Branscome, Jessica Chadwell (Cameron), Victoria Paschal (Dylan), Emily Hamilton, Isaac Hamilton and Samantha Holcomb; and his close friends, Wanda Bailey and Michell Nunn. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
