He was predeceased by: his parents, John Kirk, Jr. and Velma Bowen Kirk; and his brothers, Clifton Bowen (Emma Joe) and Melvin Bowen. He is survived by: his wife Becky Chafin Kirk; his children, Christopher S. Evans (Karen) of Logan, WV, Zabrina Hensley (Shane) of River, KY and Jennie Quillen (Jerry) of Georgetown, KY; his brothers, Chester Kirk, Billy Ray Kirk (LaDonna) and Jeffrey Kirk (Kathy); his sisters-in-law, Sue Bowen, Stella Messer (Gobe), Sarah Bowman (Dave), Retta Parsley (Jimmy), Donna May and Regina Rose (Darrell); his sisters, Beulah Bowen, Wilma Staton (Gary) and Linda Kay Marcum; his pet Mia; his grandchildren, Halie Cox (Tyler), Ian Hensley and Caden Hensley; and his great grandchildren, Hope Cox, Lamayah Cox and Xavier Cox.
In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that donations be made to the Kentucky State Police Post 9 "Shop with a Trooper" to help with providing gifts to children during the holidays.
