He was predeceased by: his parents, Benjamin Franklin Johnson and Virgie Cool Johnson; his son Joseph Johnson; and his siblings, Ray, Kelsey, Ed, Larry Johnson, Gloria, Velma and Neva.
He is survived by: his sons, Anthony Johnson and Michael Johnson (Jessica); his siblings, Jerry Johnson, Glenn Johnson (Shirley) and Shirley Tackett; his grandchildren, Hannah Dantzler, Jessica Johnson, Jonathan Johnson, Jennifer Thacker and Lamicah Kiser; and his great grandchildren, Isaiah, Peyslie, Jackson, Jace and Kynlee.
