He was predeceased by: his parents, John Taylor and Tamsie Griffith Taylor; and his siblings, Junior, James, Jerry Willis, Larry Taylor, Rosa Stiltner, Magdalene Dotson, Berniece Revis and Della Beck.
He is survived by: his sons, Howard Taylor Jr. (Josephine) and Keith Taylor; his grandchildren, Elizabeth Williamson (Alexander), Tamsie Robinette (Wesley), Natasha Taylor, Nicole Taylor and Nathaniel Taylor; and his great grandchildren, Ransom Williamson, Jonathan Quintana, Griffin Robinette and Jonah Robinette.
