He is survived by: his wife Phyllis Ann Shaw Gibson; his children, Teresa Hardcastle, Carlos "Buddy" Gibson, Jr. (Sara) and Lisa Coffey (Ed); his stepchildren, Robert Wooldridge (Kathleen) and Regina Duckworth (Bruce); and his sister Glenda Cohorn.
