He was predeceased by: his parents, Herschel W. Short and Josephine Kern Short; and his stepgrandson Tipton Lawson. He is survived by: his wife Shelia M. Short; his daughter Velvet C. Murphy (Tim); his grandchildren, Joshua, Ivy and Sarah Murphy of Bedford, Indiana; his stepchildren, Shella Ransom, Wesley A. Finley (Jennifer) and Larry Keith Finley (Dee); and his stepgrandchildren, Christopher Lawson, Michael Lawson, Skylar Finley, Ashton Finley, Johnathon Ybarra and Jasmine Ybarra. He is also survived by five step-great-grandchildren.
