He was predeceased by: his parents, Sidney Swinney and Jean Swinney. He is survived by: his wife Karen Swinney; his sons, Jonathan Swinney (Heather) and Jeremy Swinney; his grandchildren, Devin Swinney, Logan Swinney, Alieta Farnsworth (Connor), Isabella Swinney, Gabriella Swinney and Silas Swinney; and his siblings, Betty Whiteley (Donald), Emory (Gina), Robert (Cecelia) and Peggy Horlander (Steve). He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Crusade for Children, Pewee Presbyterian Church, or Northeast Christian Church.
