He was predeceased by: his parents, Jess Hiles and Cecil Riddle Hiles; his brothers, J. T. Hiles and Russell Hiles; and his nephew Tom Hiles.
He is survived by: his wife Paulada Sosby Hiles; his son James Edward "Jamie" Hiles (Lesley); his grandchildren, Jakob Edward Hiles, Sophia Annelyse Hiles and Ian James Hiles; and his nieces, Joyce Hiles, Susan Perkins and Shelly Miller.
