He was predeceased by: his parents, Claude Gilbert and Bessie Gilbert of Paris, KY.; his son Jerry T. Gilbert Jr.; his siblings, Claude Gilbert Jr. and Shirley Burgess; and his great grandchild Jacob L. Gilbert.
He is survived by: his wife Madeline C. Gilbert (Shaw); his children, Thomas C. Gilbert (Molly), Douglas L. Gilbert (Lori) and Lisa C. Beckett (Michael); his siblings, Joe Gilbert and Penny Price; his pets, Jay Jay and Thumper; and his grandchildren, Zachary Gilbert, Angelia Hutchison, Whitney Beckett, Trenton Gilbert, Andrew Beckett, Dylan Gilbert and Samuel Beckett. He is also survived by eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital.
