He was predeceased by: his parents, William Martin and Lena Mae Saunders Bowman; and his brothers, William H. "Bud" Bowman and Thomas M. Bowman. He is survived by: his children, James Martin Bowman (Susan), Robert Noel Bowman (Renee) and Susan Stubblefield (John); his grandchildren, Dr. Jeremy Smith (Elizabeth), Megan Smither (Brandon), James Ray Bowman and Courtney Ballard; his sister Lelia B. Henry; and his sister-in-law Clara Bowman. He is also survived by seven great grandchildren.
