He was predeceased by: his parents, Frances Mark Thomas and Erasmus Clark Thomas. He is survived by: his wife Kay Kuster Thomas; his children, Jennifer Clark Thomas Freeland (Mark) of Nashville, TN and Edwin Kuster (Ted); his grandchildren, Tempest Margaret Thomas, Andrew Fisher Freeland, Edwin Robertson Freeland (Ned), Elinor Kay Thomas and William Kuster Thomas; and his friends, Ed, Ted Kuster, Waller Hewlett and Fred Wilbur. He is also survived by cousins, nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hopewell Museum of Historic Paris - Bourbon County.
