He is survived by: his children, James Paul Shell (Debbie) of Paintsville, John Melvin Shell of Paintsville, Christopher Thomas Shell of Richmond, Kentucky and Sonia Leigh Shell Simpson (Jack) of Paintsville, Kentucky; his grandchildren, Destiny Wells (Wayne), John Martin Shell, Brandi Ousley, Jade Silva (Jordan) and Austin Simpson; and his great grandchildren, Alexia Wheeler and Ivy "Remi" Wells.
