He was predeceased by: his father Proctor VanHoose; his wife Ernestine Osborne VanHoose; and his brothers, John M. VanHoose, Phillip R. VanHoose and Larry G. VanHoose.

He is survived by: his sister Janie Harlow of Paintsville, Kentucky; his nephews, Phillip VanHoose and Rickey Harlow; his niece Barbara Jean VanHoose Bath; and his great-nieces and great-nephews, Donovan Chase Harlow, Landon Ray Harlow, Johsua VanHoose, Isabella Harlow, Katie Harlow and Shalean Lawson.
