He was predeceased by: his parents, Ken VanHoose and Ida Rice VanHoose; his wife Betsy Jo Nelson Melnick; his siblings, Dr. Edgel VanHoose (Sandra), Faye Castle and Wava LeMaster; and his nephews, Richard and Kent.
He is survived by: his daughter Nikki Barber; his nieces and nephews, Greg VanHoose of Lexington, KY, Bryan VanHoose of Lexington, KY, Jim Doug VanHoose (Linda) of Paducah, KY, Steve VanHoose (Brenda) of Prestonsburg, KY, Kyra Shaft (Mike) of Harrisburg, PA. and Lisa VanHoose of Stanton, KY; and his close friends, Louise Rice, Bob, Diane Castle, Sam, Laura Cole and Doug Plummer.
