He was predeceased by: his parents, Vivian Smith and Fern Smith (Hubbs); his former wife Judith Smith; his siblings, Vallena Sumnlers, Peggy Yancey, True Hanney and Relius Smith; and his son Michael W. Gibson.
He is survived by: his wife Teresa P. Smith; his children, Tammy Knoska, Tina Allen, Louia J. Smith, Sarah Buttrum, Sandra Buttrum, Amanda Vasquez and Jody Cantway; his grandchildren, Briana King, Kylie Cherry, Zachariah Baker, James Allen, Kristen Knoska Grayson Rutledge, Bryce Rutledge, Ultress Rutledge, Amillia Rutledge, Desman David Buttrum, Jacob Botello, Jessica Ortega, Javier Ortega, Brayden Vasquez and Azlyn Vasquez; his siblings, Betty Stettner, Diane Louise Alliston, Mary Blankenship, James Smith and Larry Smith; and his pet Molly Jean. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held on Wednesday, January 8th 2025 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at the Loftus-McManus Brookport Funeral Home (7742 S US 45 Rd, Brookport, IL 62910). A funeral service was held on Wednesday, January 8th 2025 at 1:00 PM at the same location.
