She was predeceased by: her parents, Mary Ellen Davis Thompson and Jerome Hugh Thompson; and her siblings, Tom Thompson, Dan Thompson, Sam Thompson, Beverly Thompson and Hughleen Riney.

She is survived by: her son Mike Sims (Darla); her grandchildren, Davis and Hale; her children, Joseph Sims and Chris Sims (Cara); her grandchildren, Palmer, Luke and Audrey; her son Patrick Sims (Chad James); and her siblings, George Thompson (Judy) and Catherine Hayden (Bernard).

Visitation was held on Friday, March 7th 2025 from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM at the St. Thomas More Catholic Church (5646 Blandville Rd, Paducah, KY 42001). A Mass was held on Friday, March 7th 2025 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the same location.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that expressions of sympathy be made to St. Mary School System or the Community Kitchen, a place of comfort and care that reflects Helen's lifelong devotion to serving and caring for others.
