He was predeceased by: his parents, Fred Van Fleet and Ruth Sumner Van Fleet; and his sisters, Brenda Van Fleet and Scottie White. He is survived by: his wife Mary Jane Van Fleet; his children, Angie Fisk (Steve) of Symsonia, Joseph Van Fleet (Laura) of Richmond and Aaron Van Fleet (Danielle) of Richmond; his brothers, Jay Van Fleet (Nyla) of Huntsville and Max Van Fleet (Helen) of Texas; and his grandchildren, Chloe Kerrick of Evansville, Parker Kerrick of Lexington and James Van Fleet of Richmond.

Memorial contributions may be made in his honor to the Paducah Tilghman Band and Orchestra programs.
