She was predeceased by: her parent A. B. McGowan; her daughter Kathleen Elizabeth Polashock; her brother Dr. James Michael McGowan; and her mother Louise Glidewell McGowan. She is survived by: her husband Michael S. Polashock; her children, Marian Catherine Dunkerley (Wayne) of Glencoe, Margaret Louise Orton (Mike) of Franklin, Tennessee and Gregory Peter Polashock of Parker, Colorado; her grandchildren, Mallory Flowers, Theo Polashock and Michael Polashock; and her brother Dr. Bernard McGowan (Sharyn) of Key Biscayne, Florida. She is also survived by nieces, nephews and cousins.

Betty was also an active Charity League of Paducah member for six years.
