He was predeceased by: his parents, Howard Goodpaster and Helen Craycraft Goodpaster; his wife Joetta Goodpaster (Yarber); and his brother Robert "Bobby" Goodpaster. He is survived by: his son Jerrell Goodpaster (Debbie); and his sisters, Jane Manley, Barbara Boyd, Patsy Karrick (Joe) and Bonnie Spencer.
Following his military service, Emery made significant contributions to his community through his career with the Department of Transportation in Flemingsburg.
