He was predeceased by: his parent Rowland "Rex" Thomas Benson; and his son Tyler Benson. He is survived by: his mother Nita Flo Ransdell Benson; his wife Becky Meadows Benson; his son Rex Rowland Benson (Kate Pryess); his stepdaughters, Hannah Wilson (Bruce) and Samantha Cooper; his grandchildren, Miley Nichole Benson and Blaze Douglas Wilson; and his sister Terri Mears. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Grant County Braves Football program.
