He was predeceased by: his parents, Herbert Taylor and Genella Mae Olds Taylor; his close friend Sarah Sammons; and his siblings, Billy Taylor and Betty Wilson.

He is survived by: his children, Debbie Vance (Darrell), Nancy Stidham (Stephen Castle), Charles Sammons (Kim) and Tim Sammons (Tammy); his grandchildren, Kimberly Vance, Natasha Fedrick, Cory Stidham and Macey Stidham; his great grandchildren, Dakota, Abigail, Delina, Carson and Brooklyn; and his sister Patsy Spurlock.
