He was predeceased by: his parents, Sim Lee and Lulia Wilhoite Smith; and his siblings, S. J. Smith, Charlotte Burke, Mae Walker and David Smith.
He is survived by: his close friend Juanita Osborne; his children, Richard Harold "Richie" Smith, Karen McDonald, Jo Ann Harrod and Connie Tompkins; and his siblings, Mary Bramblett, Glenna Long, Ray Smith, Brenda Miller, Larry Smith and Judy Smith. He is also survived by six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren.
