He was predeceased by: his parents, Robert Dee and Lois Fulkerson Schroader; and his siblings, Mitchell, Sherman, Carl Schroader and Irene Welborn.

He is survived by: his significant other Mary Lee "Drake" Schroader; his son Jeff Schroader (Nita); his granddaughters, Karen Pierce (Rob), Nancy Pierce (Jason) and Lydia Hunn (Nick); and his sisters, Lillian, Wanda, June, Jane and Mary. He is also survived by 11 great-grandchildren.
