He was predeceased by: his parents, James Edward and Alma Pryor Fort; his wife Lula Moss Fort; and his siblings, Eileen Warren, Mary Backus, Clarence Fort, Hugh Fort, Earl Fort and Lindy Fort.

He is survived by: his sons, Hilton Fort (Sherri), Kenneth "Ken" Fort (Lyn), John Fort and Gregory "Greg" Fort (Karen); and his grandchildren, Ginny Knott (David), Bob Fort (Helen), Tara Long (Chris), Nathan Fort (Dedra) and Chelsea Halasek (Trent). He is also survived by 9 great-grandchildren.
