He was predeceased by: his parents, William E. Castlen and Mary Ellen Wood Castlen; his brothers, Robert, Paul, Roy, Eugene, Leo, Tony and Donald; his granddaughter Jennifer Pearl; and his son Tommy.

He is survived by: his wife JoAnn Smith; his children, Steve Castlen, Rose Garant (Mike), Michael Castlen, Donna Johnson (Gerard) and Bill Castlen (Shelia); his sisters, Joann Galloway and Doris McBride; and his pet Smitty. He is also survived by 19 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren.
