She was predeceased by: her parents, Joseph Orval Howard and Mary Golda Smith Howard; her husband Louis Szemethy Sr.; and her siblings, Eleanor Wathen and Leo Howard.
She is survived by: her children, Mary Lasley (Kevin), Louis Szemethy Jr. (Joan), Joe Szemethy, Brian Szemethy (Theresa), Emery Szemethy (Mitzi), Bob Szemethy (Kim) and Steve Szemethy (Jennifer); and her siblings, Ann Marie Howard, Ed Howard, Leonard Howard (Eva) and Martin Howard (Gwen). She is also survived by twelve grandchildren; six great-great grandchildren.
